>> a proposal to slow restrictions in california will be hurt for ammunition. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins with us what it means for gun owners. cornell? >> a lot of gun owners are speaking out about this, about a proposed law to regulate and tax ammunition. gun control advocates say it is just too easy to walk unto the gun stores like the old west gun room and buy ammunition. they say it is time to change that. buying ammunition in california is fairly easy. all you need is an i.d., proving you are own 21. berkeley assemblywoman nancy skinner a gun control advocate wants to change that. >> it is easier in california to buy bullets than alcohol, cigarettes or cold medicine. >> she is introducing a bill requiring all ammunition dealers be licensed and the buyers provide an i.d. that would be cross-referenced with the

many gun store owners believe there are just too many restrictions on them already. the legislation is being heard right now at the state capital in sacramento. >> new this morning, connecticut lawmakers have come to an agreement on some of the toughest gun laws in the country, the legislation was written in response to december's sandy hook elementary school shooting including a state-wide registry for dangerous weapons offends and universal background checks with registration requirements for magazines that carry ten or more bullets. >> new this morning a national rifle association sponsored study is recommending that schools across the nation have at least one armed staff member on campus. former g.o.p. congressman hutchinson headed the study and this morning unveiled a 225-page report. the n.r.a. said the national school shield program was announced in response to the sandy hook elementary school

facing charges of using oh -- oh case and giving false information to a police officer an incident that happened prior to sunday's walmart incident the he is the same man who drove through the front door of a san jose walmart store on easter sunday terrorizing customers. officers say he none jumped out and started hitting people with a blunt object and injured four people on sunday. several customers had to physically hold zaid down until police could arrive on the scene. garcia was one of those customers that came to the rescue and he tells abc7 news about the chaos and the fear inside that store. >> we tried to grab him. then we tried to follow him. we managed to knock him down and hold him until the police came. the police came and they arrested him. >> police say that no doubt the

bravery of the customers helped to keep others from getting help or possibly killed. officers say the customers are heroes because they stepped up to help. zaid remaining bars and has been in court all morning and is in bar in santa clara county and could be arraigned and back here tomorrow on charge he faces involving what happened at walmart. we are live in san jose for abc7 news. >> new this morning, we are learning more of the steel bolts that have failed on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. as we told you last week defects were found in some of the bolts or rods designed to help hold the bridge together during an earthquake. now the chronicle is reporting that preinstallation tests showed there were doubts whether the bolts or rods would stretch during an earthquake. the fix will cost $1 million according to caltran but it will not delay the planned labor day opening. >> a connection ranch in san jose is back four hours after a

>> happening now in los angeles, jury selection is underway in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against michael jackson's former concert promotor. they are facing $40 billion in damages from concert giant a.e.g. in connection with michael jackson's death. the sponsor of the come back tour in 2009 was a.e.g. and the family claims that they negligently hired and supervised dr. murray who now is serving time for giving michael jackson an overdose of drug.

gatos, low-to-mid 60's. now, what will happen this forecast cycle, partly sunny and mild today. temperatures are close to average, and warmer than year, and rain, be prepared for that on thursday during the morning commute, by the afternoon it looks like we will have a drying trend take over that will last all the way through the weekend, a bigger change in the forecast from when we last talked yesterday. we thought we would get a little system come through but it will move to the north. in the santa clara valley, upper 60's to low 70's, including cupertino at 68. on the peninsula, we have mid-60's and to the north, millbrae is cooler at 62 with a breeze. we will have upper 50 to near 60 look the coast with low 60's in downtown and south san francisco and through the north bay our beechers are in the upper 50's and jersey five- to ten-degrees warmer and mid-to-upper 60's along the east bay shore and fremont warmest at 58. inland, we could reach 70
